Peter David Suffers Stroke

Peter David, writer of Marvel Comics’ X-Factor reported on his website today that he has suffered a stroke while on vacation. David reported that he suddenly lost feeling and control over the right side of his body. He was taken to the hospital and now knows this was the result of a stroke, thought they are still assessing the full damage.

David has had a long and excellent comics career, at Marvel comics with long runs on both X-Factor and Incredible Hulk, and at DC Comics with Aquaman. He also is known for his Star Trek novelizations. I’ve always enjoyed his work, his run on Hulk stands out in my mind as the best ever.

Please join me in wishing him the best, and in hoping for a full recovery. You may post comments at his website, link provided below.

JUSTICE LEAGUE MOVIE CHARACTER INFO; DARKSEID'S ELITE, LOIS LANE, ALFRED AND MORE

From CBR.com

Our DC Entertainment source sent us over a fresh batch of news on the Justice League movie and characters set to appear.

Previously our source revealed to us the first news on the Man of Steel spearheading a new DC shared movie universe, the Justice League 2015 movie, a new Batman reboot in 2016, a few scenes from the previous DC movies and most recently plans for an Aquaman movie.

Here is the latest:

• Superman is essentially the same character from Man of Steel, and Zack Snyder is consulting regarding the writing of the character.

• Batman: The strategist of the group. Batman doesn't really want to be involved with these super powered beings he considers too powerful. Easily the most complex written.

• Wonder Woman: She has only been in man's world a few short months. The Wonder Woman script Michael Goldenberg is developing will be set before the Justice League movie.

• Green Lantern: Will be Ryan Reynold's character from the Green Lantern movie, but will be freshly written with a more serious tone.

• Flash: The most popular hero in civilian eyes who loves media attention, but when called upon is very serious.

• Martian Manhunter: Alien who has lived on Earth in secret for over a hundred years who has knowledge of Darkseid and his reign.

• Aquaman: Will be the King of Atlantis who has a key role in the film.

• There will also be a heavy military presence in the film which in future rewrites could include characters featured in Man of Steel or even Amanda Waller (Angela Bassett) of which neither are included in the first draft.

• Alfred Pennyworth is in the film in a minor appearance.

• Lois Lane is also in the film in a cameo.

• Darkseid's Elite will be featured who go up against the Justice League early on in the film.

Just A Thought : New, Now, DC And Marvel

Just over a year ago DC Comics gave us there New 52 universe, a relaunch or reboot depending on how you would look at it. The DCU was only 5 years old in this new continuity but despite this some history remained some was wiped clean, some characters were relatively unchanged others were only the same in name. Now Marvel has there Marvel Now! event which seems on the surface to be a very similar to DC's, not so unique for Marvel to do this but, Marvel's Now! continuity though seems to be even more confusing. I'm not debating the fact that some characters needed a boost but why do a universe wide event if there was nothing wrong with certain ones. For example Green Lantern has been relatively unchanged, other then the addition of Simon Baz and a few tweaks, because it was doing well but Superman did need a boost lagging behind some of the other big guns. So why reboot everything, this is the question but when you look at the sales DC overall sales increased so of course Marvel felt it needed to do the same. But while sales have been better now for both is this really that good for the overall industry, or will they alienate long time fans who stuck it out over the years for the hope of bringing in new blood, so to speak, only time will tell. Just a thought.

IRON MAN 3: NEW IRON PATRIOT HIGH-RES IMAGE AND SINGAPORE EXHIBIT IMAGES

From CosmicBookNews.com

With Iron Man 3 filming in Bejing, starring Chinese actor Wang Xueqi, and seeking Chinense co-production, Disney and Marvel Studios showed off an Iron Man 3 exhibit in Singapore.

At the 2012 ContentAsia Summit held at the Hotel Fort Canon, three Iron Man suits were put on display with a 3-D model image of the Iron Patriot unveiled as well.

In addition, there looks to be a couple cos-players for the occasion on hand, too.
Chinese Star Wang Xueqi is starring as Dr. Wu in the movie, rumored to be Tony Stark's Extremis Doctor. The Extremis "virus" enables Tony Stark to control the armor through his mind, with the suit even being embedded in the bones of his body (which remains to be seen if they go that route for the movie).

Already in the trailer we have seen Tony Stark utilize his mind control on the armor as well as Dr. Wu performing some sort of operation on Tony Stark.

Previous to the announcement of Wang Xueqi as Dr. Wu, it was rumored he was actually Chen Lu, known as the Radioactive Man in the Iron Man comic books. The Radioactive Man was a nuclear physicist and under the employment of the Mandarin with an accident causing him to be able to manipulate and emit forms of radiation, in addition to his skin changing a greenish color.

Iron Man 3 has a May 3rd, 2013 release date, directed by Shane Black and starring Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts and Don Cheadle as James Rhodes War Machine.

KISS GOES SOLO!

A House Divided will Still Rock!

Echoing their famous series of 1978 solo albums, this March, legendary rockers KISS take to solo adventures in a new miniseries from IDW Publishing! Further exploring the deep mythology that’s made the Kings of Rock hold dual citizenship as Kings of Comics, this year, The-Four-Who-Are-One must take up arms alone against a slew of dynamic enemies and evil forces.

Spread out across four dimension-shattering issues, this face-melting slew of hard-rocking comics tectonics kicks off with KISS SOLO: THE DEMON, a tale starring Gene Simmons’ classic alter ego, The Demon! Veteran KISS writer Chris Ryalland fan-favorite Kiss artist Angel Medina, rejoining the band for the first time since Kiss: Psycho Circus, weave another tale of epic bombast and explosive rock and paving the way for the accompanying tales of the Starchild, the Celestial, and the Catman!

“We’ve turned KISS into gangsters, barbarians and teenage girls so far in our KISS comics,” said Chris Ryall, IDW’s Chief Creative Officer, “but now it’s time to give everyone the unfettered KISS over these four issues. Issue one sees the Demon taking on none other than the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and no one draws widescreen apocalyptic action better than Angel Medina. It’s a thrill to have Angel back in the KISS fold.”

In addition to providing full art on issue one, Medina is on board for covers for all four parts of the solo series. To further give longtime fans a bit more, each issue’s storyline and title is culled from the original solo album songs, such as issue one’s “Radioactive.”

Continuing a comics partnership as fruitful as it is sonically booming, the solo series is a must-have for comics fans and members of the KISS Army. After all, rocking ‘n’ rolling all night and reading comics every day sounds like a pretty solid plan, doesn’t it?

Has The Villain For Star Trek Into Darkness Been Revealed?

Paramount Pictures has just released a new image from Star Trek Into Darkness. The picture depicts Chris Pine as Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock engaged in an apparently heated conversation with the character played by Benedict Cumberbatch. That character is seen in what appears to be a brig/holding cell and, according to the caption provided by Paramount, the character is named… John Harrison.

Update From CosmicBookNews.com

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS: ALICE EVE'S IDENTITY & ALIENS REVEALED!

First we get - maybe - Benedict Cumberbatch's identity in Star Trek Into Darkness and now we get the enigmatic Alice Eve.

J.J. Abrams and Paramount held a screening of The Hobbit IMAX footage, with specific instructions to keep a few things secret.

Well, that never works out, and we got a bunch of specific details from the footage from Super Hero Hype, and now we apparently get the identify of Alice Eve's character as well from their sister site, ComingSoon.net.

A writer for the site tweeted:

Alice Eve's STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS character revealed... She's playing Carol Marcus!

Of course, Carol Marcus was featured in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, was the inventor of the Genesis device and mother of Kirk's son, David.

But we are not done yet as that is not all that was revealed.

If you paid close attention to the teaser trailers, a Klingon was revealed.

Well, the same writer tweets:

There are 14 Klingon characters in the film, but only two have speaking roles and are the only ones to remove their helmets

And:

We're also going to see (or already have in the trailer) the Klingon homeworld, Quo'nos!

Longer Star Trek Into Darkness Teaser Shown At BNAT

From TrekMovie.com

As reported first by TrekMovie, a longer trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness will be showing next weekend. However, that trailer previewed today at the "Butt-Numb-A-Thon" 24 hour movie event in Austin, Texas. The first descriptions of that are now showing up. See below (but beware of spoilers).

2nd Darkness Trailer Trailer: Cumby in the Brig + Chekov in Red

The second trailer (which Paramount is calling a "teaser trailer") was previewed this weekend at the Butt-Numb-A-Thon in Austin, Texas. The first description of the trailer was posted via a series of tweets by Devin Faraci of BadAssDigest.com.

Full STAR TREK trailer indicates hands against glass scene is actually Spock and Cumberbatch. If he’s Sybock… Well, kudos.
That said, Cumberbatch does NOT have Vulcan ears. Hands against glass scene seems to be Cumby in the brig.
Trailer opens with Pike VO, telling Kirk he has courage but no humility, and someday that will get him and his crew killed.
Oh yeah: there’s space stuff in the full TREK trailer. Space combat. Guy in a space suit zooming around.

In addition friend (and sometimes contributor to) TrekMovie Jordan Hoffman confirmed a few more details via Twitter DM:

Cumberbatch was definitely shown in some sort of brig
Chekov (Anton Yelchin) appears in a red tunic (instead of his regular gold tunic)
Someone wears a EVA space suit with similar design to the one used in Star Trek: The Motion Picture
