DCnU House Ads Debut New Logos, Lead To New Art
DC Comics has made a handful of promo ads for iconic titles like Justice League and Action Comics available to comic book retailers for the "New 52" #1 issues, and Newsarama has a look for you.
The ads appear to feature some new logo designs for titles likeBatman, Wonder Woman, and others. Plus, there is a larger-sized version of theJustice League group shot, that was first released by a drinking glass manufacturer last month.
The covers interestingly have QR codes on them. Scan them with your smart phone and they will take you to a little preview set of each book!

HOLY SHMOKES MUTTS TO BE ADAPTED TO FILM

New Jersey native Patrick McDonnell’s Mutts comic strip has been picked up by 20th Century Fox to be made into a feature film.
The Hollywood Reporter says McDonnell and his brother Robert will write the script with Patrick also serving as executive producer. If you aren’t familiar, Mutts is adaily syndicated comic strip that began in 1994 and runs in newspapers across the country. It’s about a dog and cat duo, Earl and Mooch, and their daily adventures that occasionally feature their elderly owners or other animals (plus Little Pink Socks!). McDonnell also champions many animal-related welfare causes like adoption and endangered species. There’s even Animal Friendly license plates with the Mutts characters here in NJ.
“Fox has had success in the comics-to-movie genre before,” writes THR, “The studio made two films based on the popular Garfield comic strip that grossed nearly $350 million combined worldwide. The Mutts project was brought in by Fox Animation executive Ralph Millero.”
Here’s hoping the film is made with classic animation, which would better compliment McDonnell’s style, rather than the Garfield CGI route. Regardless, this is awesome news for me, I love Mutts and it’s nice to see a fellow New Jersyite get the attention he so deserves.

DAN JURGENS ON GEORGE PEREZ INKING GREEN ARROW

“Once upon a time, I was asked to draw an issue of Teen Titans because the book’s usual artist, George Perez, needed a break,” Dan told us. “Marv Wolfman was the writer, and one of the things his script asked for was a double page spread with so much detail that it would ‘make George Perez jealous’.
Ri-i-i-ght. As if I, or anyone else, could have done so. When it comes to detail, or, more importantly, attention to detail, George is unequaled. Some people view that as an element of his personal style, which is true. But, more importantly, that stylistic detail exemplifies the fact that he cares tremendously about the quality of his work. George’s commitment to the page, be it as writer, penciller or inker, is second to none.
That’s why J.T. Krul and I are so thrilled to have George inking GREEN ARROW. In the first issue, I drew a spread with a cobblestone street, simply because I knew George could make it sing. Now, that might not sound like much in and of itself, but in terms of making a page work with a sense of something extra, that’s a fastball down the middle of the plate for George. He’ll put it in the seats every time.
George’s legendary status in this business is well earned. It’s a pleasure to work with him again and a total and complete thrill to watch him elevate the art on GREEN ARROW into something special.”
GREEN ARROW #1, written by J.T. Krul and featuring art by Dan Jurgens and George Perez, goes on sale September 7th.
